Eye colors lost to time4/2/2023 But what will happen now that Lady Whistledown’s identity has been revealed? We suppose that we’ll have to use our detective skills to deduce how to recreate the outfits instead. There are eight books in Julia Quinn’s Bridgerton series, which inspired the Netflix show, so it doesn’t look as though the Bridgerton hype is going anywhere. Season Two airs on Netflix at the end of this month, and we can’t wait to see the next lot of outfits. Daphne’s brother Anthony is hell-bent on eloping with an opera singer. Queen Charlotte’s husband, the infamous George III, is losing his marbles. The Featherington family are heavily in debt due to Lord Featherington’s gambling addiction, and can’t afford new dresses (a true tragedy given the selection on offer at the local dressmakers). Lady Whistledown is none other than Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan), arguably the best-dressed character in the entire show.Īlthough the plotline centres around Daphne and Simon’s relationship, the series is far from short of scandals. Who is she? That’s one secret we’re told at the end of Season One. ![]() The drama of the whole series is compounded by the mysterious Lady Whistledown, a Georgian-era Gossip Girl who spies on the lives of others and publishes scandals in her pamphlet. Cue elaborate costumes being cast aside in plenty of raunchy scenes. Daphne and Simon develop feelings for each other (who saw that one coming?). It’s a pact of convenience, but not all goes to plan.Īfter being spotted together after dark in the garden (a big faux pas), a hasty marriage is arranged to save Daphne’s reputation. For Daphne, the arrangement makes her look more eligible, and pursued. Simon is uninterested in marriage, and wants the space to deal with his late father’s estate without being quizzed about his love life constantly. She makes a pact with Simon, the Duke of Hastings, to pretend that they’re courting. Season One of Bridgerton followed protagonist Daphne Bridgerton (Phoebe Dynevor) trying to find a suitor after her brother Anthony (Jonathan Bailey) chases them all away. While we might not be ready to don the extravagant wigs and ball gowns sported by Queen Charlotte (Golda Rosheuvel), plenty of the other characters have inspired us with outfits a little less cumbersome. Sure, scenes with Regé-Jean Page (Simon) topless may have distracted us momentarily, but the real take home was the eye-popping fusion of exaggerated Georgian outfits in all colours of the rainbow. When Bridgerton waltzed onto our screens last year, all that anyone could talk about was the outfits. We’ll be taking our fashion inspiration from the Bridgerton cast, who are always dressed to impress. ![]() After two years of restrictions, partying is back.
